Camponi gets in over his head when he accepts a case to
locate an old classmate. What starts as a simple 'search
and locate' turns into trouble when Camponi finds him.
What he didn't know was that his old classmate was working
on a top secret experiment, time travel, and he's made
a breakthrough. A breakthrough that people are willing
to kill for.
Jason Caufield worked for the
federal government. When things didn't go well, he left,
to work for a university in Ohio. There, he perfected
his research, and he is now prepared to send someone back
in time. Now, the university wants him. So does the federal
government. The only way out is to test the machine. To
do that, he needs a volunteer. He's found one in Camponi.
When a federal agent warns Camponi,
he doesn't heed the warning. Because of his stubborness,
people around him begin to suffer. First, a suspicious
malpractice suit from the past comes to haunt his father.
Then, the PI that hired him for the Caufield job turns
up dead. Danger waits around every corner, and Camponi
can no longer tell what the right thing to do is. With
no other choice, he volunteers to test the machine and
go back to his past. He's told to pick a simple time,
with no major events. He thinks he's done just that. He
goes back to the past, where memory and truth collide.
The machine works. Camponi is
a teenager again. But there is a problem. His grandmother's
death is only days away, and he must risk the future to
make sure her killer is not successful this time around.
Everyone has a past. Not everyone
should revisit it.
